"The Orisha Oshún"

"The Orisha, Oshun"
 28in x 24in, oil, gold leaf/linen, © Linda Falorio1994.

This painting is of the Ifa Yoruba goddess Oshun, gracious orisha, goddess of rivers, marriage, and all that is sweet. Her magickal "weapons" are the mirror, in which to admire her great beauty, and the peacock-feather fan, which she flutters seductively upon "mounting" her devotees during the Voudoo-Orisha-Santeria rites wherein she is invited to descend. Empty a jar of honey into a flowing river as an offering to ask Her help in affairs of the heart - but don't forget to taste it first!
